Lip fillers 101
Lip enhancement through lip fillers (dermal fillers) add instant volume to lips and help enhance your pout. Made famous by Kylie Jenner, they’re now one of the hottest beauty trends on everyone’s, well, lips. They’re non-permanent, so you can top up every 6-18 months, depending how long the effects last, or you can opt for a different treatment in the future, if you don’t feel they’re for you. Most lip fillers use hyaluronic acid, which helps maintain levels of moisture in your skin. Here’s a quick 101 to give you a guide to all you need to know.
The treatment
Our Designer Lips treatment usually takes around half an hour, but depends on the area you’re having treated. Lips fillers make your pout look fuller, with a more balanced, defined shape – and you’ll notice a difference immediately. Our treatment, done by Allison Jeffery herself, follows a consultation with a Nurse Prescriber, and you’ll have a local anaesthetic before the procedure to numb the area, for a pain-free treatment.
The risks
You won’t need to worry about a ‘’Trout Pout’’ at Allison Jeffery. In fact, we offer correction for this type of treatment, where clients have scarred, lumpy or disfigured lips from botched treatment at another skin clinic. We offer 24-hour aftercare following treatment too, to help you with any questions or concerns you might have.
The aftercare
After treatment, you may have soreness, swelling and redness in and around the area, but it usually passes on its own. You can help speed up the healing process by avoiding drinking alcohol and coffee, keeping out of the sun, and avoiding wearing make-up. And, it helps to avoid touching or putting pressure on the area. Again, our 24-hour aftercare is there if you need support.
